Well, back to the grindstone.

Spring break was fun, I was verrrrry glad to see Paul, a visit long overdue I think. Much happier now. It was stressful.

Plus I got a lot of work done while getting to hang out with him, which means that next week I will get to hang out with him while NOT getting a lot of work done! (I mean, as long as I continue last week's pattern for a few more days...)

My flights today were kind of crap. My first one was, well, relatively fine, except for halfway through I noticed that ..uhh, i think the technical term for it would be "one of those pair of things that are attached underneath the wings" was nearly falling off. For real. the way it was racketing around in the wind, i then couldn't take my eyes off of it for the rest of the flight, except when I had to check for the exit; when it fell I wanted to be the first one up and at that door.

The second flight was delayed over an hour because of "equipment failure." great. so we already had a full flight of grumpy delayed people, but then we also had a ton of people from this SF flight that had had to make an emergency medical landing so that people missed their earlier DC connections...

Everyone tried to fly standby, and the full flights got completely filled up. I was about to get in line for boarding chicago-dc, then I noticed this soldier there who wasn't moving toward the line. so i asked him if he was standby, and he was...he was just starting his 2-week leave from iraq and trying to go home, but the army messed up his ticket, so he had to go standby. i couldnt believe they didn't just let him on!! So I tried very hard to convince him to take my ticket (or go up to the counter and trade with me), and I was just going to call Chris & Lucas and have them pick me up for the night (yeah, I would miss my first class, but he was going home on leave from the war!!! I think my teacher would be ok.) Well in the end he didn't take it and I felt so horribly guilty getting on the plane knowing he was stuck in the airport overnight...also I felt bad that I was the ONLY PERSON who offered my ticket. What the hell people. I hope someone gave him a seat on a later flight.
