booooo....
I am submitting resumes to a lot of places this week and I just went and talked to a professor who said that if I am going to go into government later then I shouldn't bother applying to Islamic orgs (CAIR, etc) at all. Even if the govt work has nothing to do with that work. So...boo.

I went running today - it was a very good run. As in, it was a real workout. My legs were very tired from my last 2 days (long run on Saturday, carrying that over into a good work-out on Sunday and then today, so I could feel it with every step). I went over to Teddy Roosevelt Island and ran around it - I like the boardwalk over the marsh. It's nice and springy. I was passed rather early on by this guy, and I kept seeing him just ahead of me. He was stopping to read the signs on the island (this is a marshland, etc.) so I finally caught up with him (well, he stopped for a second more cause he could tell I was trying to beat him). So we ran together for the rest of the island and chatted a while. But since he was a guy and was also obviously a faster runner than I was, AND we were talking, it was quite a lungs workout too. I wasn't entirely sorry when we reached the bridge and I turned off the trail, especially because I was losing him on the last hill there. So the rest of the run felt slow after that, but better (I only had a minute or so before the strides and cool-down anyway). Then the exorcist stairs, which I finished surprisingly quickly even though I was only walking them.

So we all saw this story: (which I link to for those of us not included in that "all")

Chippewa Falls Bus Crash Kills 5

A girl on my floor is from Chippewa Falls, so I searched her out right away when I saw the news to make sure she had heard (I feel like I am usually the last person to hear about big MN news so I sympathize with other midwesterners). Unfortunately (or fortunately for the circumstances, I guess), she had already heard. Her little brother was on the bus. But, thank god, he was sitting in row 7. All the people in rows 1-5 were killed. After the truck slammed into that part of the bus, everything flipped around and it crashed into the rear end, just behind his seat. So he's banged up with broken teeth and all, but compared to a lot of other people, relatively fine. But she was woken up by a bad phone call yesterday morning. So we were going to have cocoa when I got off work because she looked kinda shooken up but she ended up going to the library, so I got her some chocolate ice cream instead.

What a crappy thing.
