Once again. I am lazy. Eat it. Anyways I think I post often enough because the people that read this probably do at about the same rate that I am posting.
Today I went to get a refund for my kayaking trip that was canceled. I go to the GOAT office and the girl has no idea how to do it, so she has to take me to the GOAT administrator's office. He looks at my receipt, and looks at me, and says, who was your trip leader? I say, I don't know, she sent an email. I didn't meet her. So he gives me a look as if he doesn't believe me that it was canceled, and then confirms this when he says, "Are you SURE your trip was canceled?" I repeat, YES, I got an email. It was RAINING. Then he says, oh yeah. I was supposed to go on that trip. (This trip, btw, was less than a week ago.) So at least finally he gives me back my money, and that makes me happy.
I am having a very tough time with registering for classes for next semester, I am so frustrated!! I have a financial block due to disagreements between me and student accounts. Georgetown thinks that I am going to pay them $3500, and I disagree. So they won't let me register. Which means if I don't register during this go-around, I won't get into the classes I want...for most of them this doesn't matter, but I wanted to re-get in to Albright's class, especially because I started taking it last semester, but it's impossible to get in if you don't get in the first time around.
So yesterday I received this letter from Johanna. It was a pink envelope with stickers on it. Inside were two comic strips that she thought I would like, and a panel cut out of a third one. Also there was a picture cut out of the newspaper of some football players. When I commented on this to her (didn't want her to think that I didn't know why she sent it), she said, yeah! Don't you remember Latrell? I said, yes, I do... and she says, Yeah. That's Notre Dame. In case you forgot and Latrell went and played for Notre Dame.
So I am looking forward to Sprewell going to college and joining the Notre Dame football team.
Finally, there was the letter. I had to sort out all the letters on it, but it came down to something like: Me (we?) U to go (other stuff). I asked her if she remembered what it said, and she told me that it was all about what we were going to do together when I came home. Boy there is a long list. I don't know if 3 weeks is going to be enough time.
She has discovered speaker phone, and so she called me six times yesterday. Six times!! For at least 10 minutes each (the short ones; most of them I finally had to cut her off). She likes speaker phone because she can run around and play and still talk to me. Last night she had me read her my term paper (?!) that I was working on, which is a very boring term paper, which she critiqued. The first section (introduction) she loved, the second section (Islamic philosophical arguments against political participation) was "meh", and the third section (Arguments for political participation) was "ok." But each time she made me continue reading. That was 6 pages she had me read! And she listened to it!! What a nutcase. I would never have let someone do that to me.
This paper is technically due next Monday, but the professor said that we can turn it in the Monday after Thanksgiving if we want, so I was planning on that...she also welcomes rough drafts, which is why I have been working on it a lot (I have about 6 out of 15 pages so far, with hours and hours of research behind that. One entire weekend for just a single appendix, not counted in those 6 pages.) I really wanted to have the draft in by last Friday or this Monday at the latest, but because of that darn appendix I got nothing else done. So I wanted to turn it in today, but I emailed her about when would be my last opportunity to turn it in and be able to get it back before thanksgiving, and she said she won't be back until next tuesday (which confuses me not a little bit, as we have CLASS on mondays....) and I can turn it in then for her to look at over Thanksgiving. That's fine with me, I can write my bioterrorism term paper over thanksgiving instead, but if it's due the monday AFTER thanksgiving, I'm not sure when she expects me to hand it back in. Hmm. Oh well, I'll let her deal with that and I'll just work on my other stuff. But actually having my rough draft deadline pushed back until Tuesday really does help, even though I'm going to try to have it done as soon as possible anyways.
If anyone else desires a dramatic reading about Islamic Philosophies on Political Participation in Minority-Status societies and Case Studies thereof, please call me and I will be more than happy to oblige. With appendices included.
PS - Happy GIS day, everybody!!
