Yes, I know that it's been 2 1/2 months since I've posted. But the three of you probably don't really check much anyway. I've been thinking about starting again though for a while. Especially because now that I run (did you hear that sentence? Read it again!), I have lots more time to think thoughts that are very worthy of hearing and pondering.
I have also undertaken a study of my new neighborhood. Paul and I are now living (with Martins, about whom my mom asked, "Who are the Martins?") over in Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis. It is a nice place. The neighborhood is poor but the people are nice. I run through the park and hang out in it so now I know lots of people. Plus we have met some of the neighbors, too. Like our next-door neighboor Sue, who has a gigantic white fluffy dog named Mona. And her upstairs neighbor, Sean, who is an art teacher at the University of Minnesota. In the park I have met Gary and Sharon, and their son Joshua (but I can call him Josh). I also know all the people who frequent it in the early morning, when I run. The regulars are always there. It's nice. And when you walk around the neighborhood, everyone says hi. When you get closer to Lake Street, though, you get less "hi"s and more "hey baby"s.
The 21 runs down Lake Street at Bloomington (because construction is going on, so it can't stop at 15th, which would be nicer for me. Oh well, it's only one block (albeit one which can make big difference when you're running late!) The 21A goes to downtown St. Paul, but the 21D runs about every 1/2 hour, except between 12 and 2:30 when it doesn't run at all, and goes straight to my parents' house. How convenient! Both, however, will take you to Savers, Hiawatha Light Rail Midtown Station (sorry, i like the word hiawatha. it's very fun to say), Target, Cub, and Rainbow. And the Resource Center of the Americas, but since I dont know anyone who works there anymore, I'm not quite a frequenter.
I have learned a lot about minneapolis's water quality and the projects in Powderhorn Park to improve the quality of the park and specifically its lake, but those will have to wait for another time. Right now I have to go do my long run of the week.
The rest of the family just left for the cabin. :( They came back after 20 minutes, though. But now they're gone again, until the 11th. Apparently it rained so much though that everything is underwater. And our big speedboat capsized and was found at the neighbors' place, upside down and everything. And the fire pit is underwater. (Although it won't be the first time we've moved that.) That just kinda sucks for them that all this happened right before they went up. Oh well, they'll have fun anyway. Even if it is supposed to rain for 9 of the 10 days they will be there.
3 miles, here we go!
