So, here are the things I've learned so far in the first couple weeks of school:
1) Africa is insane.
2) Japan is insane.
3) Bioterrorism is awesome.
4) There are muslims living in America.
So you see, my classes are quite insightful. Actually I really enjoy my Africa class; the professor is very funny and mainly goes off on tangents telling stories of adventures in Africa, but I'm never sure which are just stories and which are things we are supposed to be writing down. Because of these stories, he always ends up going over time during class, worse because on the first day of class the battery in his watch died and there are no clocks in the room. Yesterday I got my first quiz back; I told him people had reported that he had graded very harshly, and he said yes...but then he said, oh, you got one of the higher grades! And he handed it to me...B- Haha! I don't think it helped that he is a huge cheesehead and I insulted the Packers on my quiz. (He said that anyone who wrote something praising the Packers would get extra points, but how could I do that?!)
Paul's phone has been broken for a couple days now, so I haven't really talked to him. Qwest should really get on that.
Today I was supposed to go with GU Melody to do instrument demos for the kids, but a Safeway trip took me way longer than expected, so I felt bad because I did not get back in time (just barely missed it!) So I had to call and tell them to leave without me.
Speaking of Safeway, it used to be this majorly long trek, especially on the way back when you are loaded down with cans and jars and such. But apparently over the summer or something they started this new bus stop on one of the GUTS lines which drops you off right by there. It is awesome. Only I didn't know about it until a few days ago when Erin told me. Wow! It is great. Also, I bought Bridget an awesome present there (at least I think it's awesome, she just might give me a weird look across the miles).
I went to a party last night; I didn't think I was going to know anyone there but the host, who lived on my LXR floor junior year, but turns out a whole bunch of guys from that floor (ok, his roommates) and some people I knew from around the dorm (which is odd, because I didn't think I knew anyone, but I suppose I met them in his room at one point or another). Plus one or two other random people...at one point it seemed like half my Africa class showed up, but they only stayed a few minutes.
Also for some reason this horde of freshmen showed up and I'm not sure how they found this, but they were all there and most of them were trying to look way sophisticated and not like freshmen, but of course that just made it worse. There were some that just acted like normal freshmen, which was funny but better than the others. (And there were a few cool freshmen as well, but none of the guys, just a couple girls.)
Johanna called me yesterday and told me about how our (old) house was gone...She said that monsters came and ate it and she got to watch them, and now you can drive trucks over it. She seems to really enjoy this. So for her night-night story last night (yes, I told her a bedtime story in the middle of the party) I had to tell her one about a trio of monsters that eat houses.
