Yikes!! Sorry B.
But hey, I call you like every other day, so why are you needing the updates? Haha. No, I don't have any new utensils yet but this kid down the hall yesterday said, oh! I still have your baking pan! ...which I hadn't even ever noticed, so that's nice of him to tell me. I have been leaving my dishes and pots all over my radiator and windowsill to dry...(I have to wash my dishtowel in the next load of laundry)...but then I generally just leave them there because I know I'm going to use them soon anyways, and why do I want to climb on a chair and arrange them precariously in my crowded cupboard just for that? So my room could look cleaner, but it doesn't. Also having a trash can would make it look cleaner, cause right now I just have plastic bags. How come my book store and CVS don't sell just stupid little plastic trash cans? I don't want to take the metro out to Pentagon city just to buy a trash can! But maybe I should anyways, because I also want to get some sort of thing that you put around the bottom of your bed, you know, those cloth things, that make it so you can't see under the bed, and that really would improve the looking of my room, because that is where all my boxes/linens/etc are stored.
So I just got this email, B you will like this, from the security office at my school. Whenever there is crime that the general student body should know about, they send out an alert. So I guess last night at 3:30 in the morning on a street that is, well, on campus (it's the street where one of the entrances to a dorm is, so on the edge of campus, but still...), a student was approached by two guys who said "Hey you," then clicked a gun, and he ran away and reported it to the dops...then at 4 am at about the same spot the same two guys came upon another student and yelled at him to give them money and told him they weren't playing around, and to demonstrate how much they weren't playing around, fired their gun in the air. Apparently he also ran away, although at that point I think I'd probably be crying and peeing too much to run anywhere and instead just drop my purse on the ground and cry some more. But that is why when I go out at night I only bring my dorm key (I take it off the key ring), my college ID (if I am going to a bar or party where I might need it, my MN ID too), about $5 just in case I do get mugged then at least I can give them something to make them go away? And my cell phone so that I can call someone to come rescue me after I have been beaten up, if they forget to take my cell phone. Or if I am scared of walking.
So, I am really glad I did not walk home from Sarah's at midnight last night. Phew!! Thanks for the ride, Sarah, mucho appreciated.
Because also, last night at 1:30 in the morning, at the top of the Exorcist steps, which really is even more on campus than the other street, which is on campus too, this girl was approached by this different guy who demanded money and when she said she didnt have any he flashed this knife at her and started punching her in the face, then shoved her to the ground and just basically beat her up, then stepped on her wrist and ran away. If someone was actually beating me up and not just showing me a gun I think I'd be more pissed off than crying, cause you dont have time to cry. But I would be scared that he'd cut my stomach with a knife.
Metro caught the first two guys with the gun cause the students reported it quickly but they haven't found the other guy yet.
Oh and my dorm caught fire the other night, on Wednesday night I think it was, at about 11 pm, so we all had to evacuate, I was wearing slippers and definitely should have had a sweatshirt on. We all thought it was a drill except for the fact that we had a drill in the morning a week ago. But it turned out that an RA on the second floor had set a bag of popcorn on fire (way to go). So it wasn't serious. But we had to stand outside for about 45 minutes. Which was definitely annoying.
OK so B I guess I DID have things to update you on. So there you go. You should call me this weekend, ok bye.
