Yarrrr.
So I have been spending a whole lot of my time this week reading a (good) book for a class, called "Terror in the Name of God." We had to read the first six chapters, and they were pretty interesting, but it took a lot of time. Then, at 1:00 this morning, 9 hours before class, when i was about to go to bed, I was looking over my syllabus and discover that, oh, I wasn't supposed to be reading "Terror in the Name of God," but "Terror in the MIND of God." !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily, someone on my floor had that book. Which is much shorter than the one I read. Also luckily, they were much alike. But therefore I did not have the reading done for class today; I read 1 or 2 chapters when I got up early and stayed up late, but not the other 4. This one had chapters on different fundamentalist movements: Christianity and Judaism were the ones I read, then I skimmed the Sikh chapter and there were also Islam and Aum Shinrikyo. The Sikh chapter kinda sucked and they didn't do a good job at ALL of explaining things. For instance, Paul, I thought this would annoy you: they explained how IG's bodyguard thugs killed the beloved Indira as a terrorist attack...in all the other chapters they explain the rationale behind the attacks, such as Baruch Goldstein, before killing all the people praying in the mosque, getting pissed off the night before because of provocation by the Muslim Arabs in the hood. It makes it seem that however abhorrent the resulting action, at least people had an identifiable and "legitimate" reason. But they don't mention the Temple massacre at all. Not once. In fact, all they talk about is how Sikh militants just want their own land, but don't really give any impetus for that. so humph.

Speaking of Paul's idea of terrorists, it was announced yesterday that the IRA has verifiably "put their arms beyond use." This, understandably, has led the Protestants, mainly Paisley's DUP group, to up the violence level in Northern Ireland. Hmm. Makes sense, right? The other side calls for a truce so you get pissed off. At least it makes them look really bad and gives the other side a better image. Other funny thing is that the IRA disarmament was verified by a Protestant priest and a Catholic priest. So the Protestants immediately called it a lie. They called for photographic evidence. When offered photographic evidence, they called it a sham and yelled that photographic evidence would never prove to them a thing. So they'd best go on a rampage against Catholics. Uhhh....right. So anyway it now just shows that they never wanted peace all along and have announced that they will never share a government. Ah well. It looks like Britain is glad to start washing its hands of the situation regardless and will continue pulling out. Then the Catholics will just continue to have babies faster than the Protestants can kill them and the whole thing will be over soon.

The other thing that is frustrating, besides wasting my money on the wrong book, is that I just went to print 42 pages of reserves, that would last me through the end of October (so that is $4.20) -- only to find out after paying for all this that the printer is entirely out of ink. This day is not going my way and I think I am going to go crazy. Also on Sunday I filled a prescription only to find out that night that the doctor had forgotten to specify a different version of the pill on the prescription and so I got the wrong ones. uh-oh. and now i have to go back and pay another $20 for the right ones. Wow are things not working out for me.

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
time to find lunch.
