I woke up this morning and looked out the window, and there was the FedEx truck with my neighborhoodie!! I got a shirt that says 11.02.2004 on it, it looks super-cool. (www.neighborhoodies.com, check it out -- brown, milkmaid style.) I also got some underwear but I'm not going to mention what those say...just that I can't throw them in the laundry while I live in my parents' house.
Paul is out of town starting this morning, off to Colorado. I think he's going to have a really fun trip, as he only has to do something for work on Friday and then has all of Saturday, not to mention most of today and Sunday morning, to hang out -- hike, bike, climb, whatever. Cool. He's missing my birthday (haha had to throw that in, Paul) but will be back on Sunday for when his mom decided to make me a birthday dinner :) :) I decided on chicken with sun-dried tomato pesto and an ice-cream cake. Yummy! Paul's friend Mike's girlfriend, Amelia, has the same birthday as I do so I may go out with them on Saturday (although she's turning 21 so I don't know what their plans are, may be something wild!!)
Tonight I went out to dinner with Zuzana and her fiance, and 2 other couples, and Z's sister Nika, whose boyfriend is also out of town and missing their anniversary (therefore we commiserated about boyfriends in general). (Luv ya Paul!!) I didn't know where we were going ahead of time, but it turned out to be this really fancy tapas restaurant -- Nika babysits for the owner's kids. The food was great, we got all these little dishes to share, like raw beef and smoked salmon with trout roe, and shrimp croquets (I use those as examples to say CAN YOU GUYS BELIEVE I ATE THIS STUFF?! AND THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD!?!)
But I was panicky because everyone kept ordering more and more of these things, and drinks (Z's fiance is a bartender and he enjoyed ordering drinks for me) and whatnot, and since the bill is all split together since we shared everything, and I saw the price of some of these things...yikes!!!
All in all the bill ended up being nearly $600 (that was AFTER the owner took off a percentage). I nearly had a heart attack. BUT, Z's fiance and another guy there just ended up putting it on their credit cards. What?! But it was awesome and I thanked them but at the same time just pretended it wasn't that big of a deal (these guys, btw, are both in their 30s and have pretty nice jobs).
So that made it a much better night. Phew!! I was thinking during the meal, "well, there goes my next paycheck!!" I am much more relieved now.
I am kinda sad though -- Zuzana and I used to be really close, and that's why I'm in her wedding and whatnot, but I feel like we're moving away, that we're just in different classes now, pretty much...like this kind of thing is now normal for her...I think her school changed her a lot (guys think Jane Hoyas to the max). Not that she is a Jane Hoya, but just she's more used to this I think and seems with her fiance to pretty much expect it. So I don't know how to fit with her and talk to her sometimes now, and am nervous about going out with her cause I dont have the money to do the kind of things they do. That sucks.
Well, off to bed!
