The Minneapolis/St. Paul city bus drivers (and other workers I suppose) went on strike (for health care benefits, erin -- the guv wanted to take away retiree benefits and make health insurance cost like $136 more a month, and other shit like that.) They had been talking about it for a while, and apologized a lot to riders, and they were even nice enough to wait until after caucus night, they started their strike on Thursday.
Their last strike was about 10 years ago, and lasted about a month. The workers said this time around the union said to expect a couple of months, and no new talks with the Metro Council are even scheduled yet.

Uhhh, that sucks. I take the bus lots of places. (50c bus rides for the disabled! Wheee!) Sometimes I get rather dependent on it, like in the summer I took it to work and back in downtown Minneapolis. Now it is sometimes more a convenience thing, like taking it to Macalester, cause that's just a mile and yeah I can walk that, but for example it just snowed a bunch last night (shaddUP hoyas!) and...that's cold. In the summer at least you can bike or walk more easily. Plus, as y'all probably know, gas prices are rising and rising. So I can't depend on getting rides from people as much. And...overall this just ain't very cool.
