Well, my run yesterday didn't go that great, so I decided to take today off from the gym, to go back tomorrow. I'm kinda glad I decided that also, because I found out when I went to the library to pick up some books just now that it is FREEZING! -- mainly due to the wonderful Washington hilltop wind. So I'm glad that I don't have to climb up the huge hill to the gym, because it was cold enough when I was outside my dorm, in the 'valley'.

Erin and Sarah and I went ice-skating last night, and although it was about the same temperature as now (around 20), there wasn't really any wind so it was perfect for skating. It was really fun, we went at the National Sculpture Garden so it was very pretty, it's right across the street from the archives building, so it just looked pretty cool. I got some pictures of us, so I'll post them if I can.

There was this little kid, though, that was endangering everybody's lives; he would stand at the entrance to the rink and then all of a sudden dart across to the other side (meanwhile there's quite a lot of us trying to skate in the circle...) Once he got to the other side, he would wait a moment and do it again. I actually screamed (well, narrowly refrained from yelling obscenties would be a better description) when he did that in front of me a few times. I heard other people plotting about how they were going to take him out the next time he did that. So we had to keep a careful eye on him. I also saw a kid sprain his wrist, that was too bad.

Finally got my icy-hot last night, mmmmmm. I went to bed around 2:30 and at 3 there is this loud knock on my door, then someone trying to open it. I woke up quite alarmed, but luckily I had remembered to lock the door. So I got up and opened it to find 3 kids from my floor, one dancing around in the hallway and all requesting the return of this other girl's season one of the O.C. (I wasn't sorry to return it -- erin had wanted to watch it the other night; she has been watching the 2nd season but hasn't known the background, I didn't really enjoy the show at all.) But they scared me by doing that so I didn't get back to sleep for a long time. (I said: Seth! It's 3 o'clock in the morning! And of course they said, I know! What are you doing in bed?!)

DA Henderson's coming to speak on Wednesday -- he's the guy pretty much responsible for eradicating smallpox, so this is really cool. I have class during that time, but luckily it's with the professor I had for bioterrorism last semester, so he said it was perfectly fine if I went. Cool. I'll probably have plenty to say about that, given that I loved bioterrorism and he is apparently going to be speaking a lot about current threats and biodefense. Yay!

(Also, Johanna learned the word "apparently" yesterday and is now "apparently" using it in every sentence she says. ("What did you do, Mary?" "Oh, I went ice-skating." "Yes, apparently you did.")
